Head of School

Jo Harney

Our Head of School, Jo Harney, was named to the position in July of 2010. She has twenty-three years of teaching experience from the Pre-K level through twelfth grade and comes to us most recently from St. Anne's Episcopal School in Middletown, Delaware. Jo has a B.S. in music education and an M.A. in religious aesthetics, both from Skidmore College.

Jo has served the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools as a peer reviewer of schools applying for accreditation, and has chaired three peer review teams. She is an active member of Immanuel Church on the Green in New Castle where she has served on the vestry and is now serving on the search committee for Immanuel's next Rector. Her energy, commitment to young children and exemplary organizational abilities to move our school forward were lauded by the Board of Trustees when calling her to CCEP.

Jo lives with her husband, Gary, on the campus of St. Andrew's School, where Gary teaches choral music and religious studies. They are the parents of three children and grandparents of three grandsons.
