Christ Church Episcopal Preschool educates young children, creates community among school, families, and church, and honors and nurtures children in the Episcopal tradition. We welcome children aged two to five in small classes where all are affirmed as children of God and are inspired and encouraged to become their best selves—socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually.

Andrew's Place Dinner

Denise Gilliam

We are once again privileged to serve the men of Andrew's Place on February 7th at 5:00 pm. Andrew's Place is a full service emergency shelter that offers its guests both hospitality and empowerment. Volunteers enjoyed preparing, serving and dining with these gentlemen. The conversations are often eye opening and meaningful. This time of service is always positive and rewarding.

Back to School Night for Parents

Jo Harney

Welcome back to school!  Please join us on Wednesday, September 20 at 6:15 p.m., when parents are invited to assemble in the chapel for a brief introduction to the Episcopal Identity of our school.  At 6:30, we will adjourn to the classrooms where you will hear from your child's teachers about the daily schedule, classroom objectives, and special events, and will also have an opportunity to ask questions and meet other parents.  At 7:00 p.m., please join us in the gym for a wine and cheese reception with a greeting from the President of the Parent Association, Marianne Archbell, and our Rector, Ruth Beresford.

Yearbooks are Coming!

Jo Harney

We expect our yearbooks to arrive on August 21.  They will be a beautiful and fun look back at the year just completed.  The pages will help you remember special moments of 2016-17, in chapel, classrooms, gym, and outdoors.  You may purchase your yearbook by clicking below.  We will let you know when the books are ready for pickup.  We can also mail them to you, if you prefer.  Enjoy!

Open House - May 22

Jo Harney

Please spread the news!  We are hosting an Open House on May 22 from 9 to 11 a.m.  Invite your friends, and tell them to invite their friends.  Share it on Facebook.  Help us get the word out that this will be a great morning to tour our campus, inside and out, meet with current families, have a Q & A with the Head of School, and experience what makes a Christ Church education so valuable.  Ask your friends to RSVP to

Underwearness Campaign

Jo Harney

Our Underwearness Campaign launches in April (but the collection bins are already in place).  Did you know that underclothing is not available at a Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift store?  This means that families who depend on these kinds of services are often unable to obtain these important items.  Please pick up a few packages of extra underwear or socks the next time you are out shopping.  Drop them in the collection bins on either floor of the preschool and we will donate them to the Claymont Community Center, who in turn makes sure that they go to needy families.  Let’s fill our bins!

Easter Baskets for Needy Children

Jo Harney

It is time for the Easter Baskets project where we collect Easter baskets filled with treats and toys for local preschool children. We have “adopted” a number of children, and you may choose one or more of these children for whom to create a basket.  Suggested gifts are provided for each age level and gender.  If you would like to choose an Easter basket, please use this link to sign up:

CCEP Easter Basket Sign Up

  • Contents should be treats and toys: things like Easter candy and individual snacks, or in the case of infants, baby food pouches and first finger foods. Toys could include stuffed animals, play figures, coloring books and crayons, stickers, board books or paperback picture books, small games, etc.

  • Suggested value of $20-25, not including cost of basket itself

  • Baskets should be wrapped inside a plastic bag and clearly tagged for your selected recipient (i.e. "M1, MALE, 7 months")  (Denise has these tags.)

  • Please drop items in box near Denise's office by Friday, April 7, 2017.

Try to include your child in the choosing of gifts; what a great example you’ll be for developing his/her own compassion and generosity!

Parenting Class: Raising a Motivated Child

Jo Harney

Does your child appear unmotivated?  Does he/she give up easily?  Does he/she appear to lack determination?  Join us for a presentation that will cover everything parents need to know about motivation in order to raise a thriving, happy, responsible child.  We will share cutting edge research that shows the best approach to take.  You will leave this presentation with clear, easy-t-understand ideas that you can begin to implement immediately.
