Nursery
Nursery Program (2 Year-Olds)
Our two-year old students are busy. The developmental job of a two-year-old is to explore their environment. Our job is to provide new materials and fresh experiences for them to discover and to create an environment that feels safe and secure so that they feel free to discover.
The daily routine allows time for discovery. A new toy or art material is placed on the classroom tables each day. One day it’s Magnatiles, on another day water colors, and the next day, it’s stones that can be balanced or patterned. Some children sit down immediately to manipulate and explore this new toy. Others head for a familiar favorite like the dress up corner, the kitchen, or the giant sized legos. Either is okay. The children will come together for music class, PE, and dance, but much of their day is spent in free choice activities.
We believe that every child is different and this approach ensures that each child has an individual experience, matched to their specific interests and developmental needs. Our goal is to foster curiosity and to provide room for social-emotional growth.
